WisDOT is in the process of preliminary design investigation for a proposed roadway improvement of WIS 105.  The proposed project length is 4.7 miles, extending from the Minnesota/Wisconsin state line bridge to WIS 35 (Tower Avenue).  Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in late August 2024 and continue in the spring/summer of 2025.  Proposed project work on WIS 105 includes:

    ● Repairing the road core in spot locations of settlement.
    ●  Repairing select culverts.
●Some temporary limited easements, or TLEs, will be needed to complete this work.
    ●  Making spot curb and gutter repairs in the village of Oliver.
    ●  Upgrading or installing curb ramps at pedestrian crossings in the city of Superior.
    ●  Milling and overlaying the parking lanes in the city of Superior with asphalt.
    ●  Milling the existing asphalt pavement, including intersections, followed by overlaying the road with asphalt.

During construction in 2024, WIS 105 will be detoured to repair the roadway in spot locations of settlement.  (Click here for project fact sheet).  During construction in 2025, WIS 105 will remain open to traffic; however, traffic motorists might encounter lane closures controlled by flagging.   Delays should be expected when traveling the work zone, especially during commuting hours.  Access to properties during construction will be maintained by may be by alternative routes.
