Seven Gears of Wellness Drive Team Member Support & Success in 2025
In a time of record-high stress and burnout among workers, Rihm Family Companies is taking a step forward with its second annual “Geared Up for Health & Wellness” campaign. Focused on the physical, mental, social, financial, professional, digital, and legal wellbeing of its team members, Rihm aims to create an environment where employees can thrive both personally and professionally.
According to Gallup, workers worldwide are experiencing record-high levels of daily stress, and a SHRM study found that nearly half of U.S. employees feel burned out or emotionally drained from their jobs. “Our goal is simple,” said Kristin Ridley, Director of Marketing Communications. “We want to meet our team members where they are – whether that means supporting their professional goals or helping them find balance in their personal lives.”
Through its “Geared Up” initiatives, Rihm fosters a supportive and inclusive workplace, inspiring personal growth, professional development, and meaningful connection among team members. Some highlights of Rihm’s “Geared Up” campaign include focused, organized charitable giving efforts in our communities like Feed My Starving Children group outings and fundraisers for Truckers Against Trafficking, promoting healthy digital habits, boosting financial wellness, book club discussions, holiday social activities, career development resources, and tips for mental wellness, healthy eating and physical fitness.
In one study, Deloitte found that 68% of workers surveyed are not using the well-being resources and perks that their organizations are offering them because they find them\ too time-consuming, confusing, or cumbersome.
“We’ve made it easy for our team to engage,” Ridley shared. “Our month-at-a-glance summaries highlight available resources and activities, so it’s easy for team members to participate.”
To give you a better understanding of how each of the seven “gears” tie into the activities, here are examples.
- Physical: National Physical Fitness Month challenges encourage activity and healthy competition.
- Mental: Resources for stress management during National Stress Awareness Month provide tools for balance.
- Social: Workspace decorating and contests for holidays promote team connection.
- Financial: Budgeting tips shared during National Financial Capability Month build financial confidence.
- Professional: Quarterly update meetings ensure alignment and growth opportunities.
- Digital: Cybersecurity Month initiatives promote safe digital habits.
- Legal: Assistance for will preparation during National Make a Will Month simplifies critical planning.
“By aligning our efforts with these seven gears of wellness, we aim to set a standard for workplace culture that others can follow,” Ridley said. “Together, we’re shaping careers and creating an environment where our team members can thrive."
