Human Development Center (HDC) Joins National Give OUT Day 2025 to Support LGBTQ+ Mental Health Services
Duluth, MN — May 29, 2025. The Human Development Center (HDC) is proud to join thousands of organizations across the country for Give OUT Day 2025—the only national day of giving exclusively for the LGBTQ+ community—taking place on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
HDC is a local non-profit community mental health center dedicated to supporting individuals facing mental health challenges across northern Minnesota. More than 80 years later, we continue to uphold the mission of fostering hope, resilience, and recovery through integrated, culturally respectful mental health and addiction services. With more than 28 programs now operating across Carlton, Lake, and St. Louis counties in Minnesota and Douglas County, Wisconsin, HDC is the largest provider of community-based mental health and recovery services in the Northland. Our programs include LGBTQ+ communities with specific groups, therapy and services.
Give OUT Day is an annual campaign hosted by GiveMN.org that unites LGBTQ+ nonprofits for a 24 hour fundraising event. This national effort highlights the critical need to support LGBTQ+ communities and enables organizations like HDC to raise vital funds—and visibility—for programs that directly serve LGBTQ+ individuals. At a time when the LGBTQ+ community faces rising attacks on their everyday existence, it is imperative to support LGBTQ+ nonprofits in sustaining and celebrating invaluable work.
“Give OUT Day is about more than donations—it’s about affirming that LGBTQ+ folk matter, and that they deserve care that understands their unique experiences,” said Alex Lorenz, HDC Therapist. “When you give to HDC on June 5, you’re supporting access to compassionate and respectful mental health services for LGBTQ+ individuals in our local area.”
Every donation made between now and June 5, and throughout June ‘Pride Month’, helps HDC continue to support its various LGBTQ+ programs.

Why It Matters
LGBTQ+ individuals are disproportionately affected by mental health challenges and often face barriers to care. At HDC, we are committed to breaking down those barriers and ensuring access to safe, affirming, and effective support.
