    DTA Hosts 2018 MN State Bus Roadeo in Duluth this Saturday, July 14th

    DULUTH, MINNESOTA (July 11, 2018) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) is proud to host the
    Minnesota Public Transit Association’s (MPTA) 31st Annual Minnesota State Bus Roadeo on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Duluth Heritage Sports Center (DHSC) from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

    The opening ceremony begins at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Large Bus Division Competition from 8:45 – 10:00 a.m. and the Small Bus Divisi
    on Competition from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
     There are drivers coming from across Minnesota to compete with 16 bus operators competing in the Large Bus Division and 26 in the Small Bus Division.  This event is free and open to the public.

    The DTA first hosted the Minnesota State Bus Roadeo in 1989 and most recently hosted it in 2014.  The event features 12 different obstacles that competitors will be scored on for both accuracy and timing.  The Grand Champion in both divisions will represent Minnesota at the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) and the American Public Transit Association (APTA) national bus roadeos next year.

    This Minnesota public transit tradition provides safety training to bus operators and gives the public transit community the opportunity to network.
     This event recognizes the men and women who are proud to call themselves bus operators.
