We are pleased to announce that the city ice rinks and warming sheds will be open this winter.
Holiday hours for the warming sheds will be 11am-9pm, December 24th - December 27th
On December 24
th, the following rinks and warming sheds will be open:
Wade Bowl, Pattison, Carl Gullo and South End
On December 25
th, the following rinks and warming sheds will be open:
Wade Bowl, Pattison, and South End
Starting Saturday, December 26
th, we will begin to open additional rinks as ice conditions improve. By the week of December 28
th, we hope to have all the rinks and their associated warming sheds open.
Beginning Monday, December 28th, we will go back to regular hours of 4-9pm on weekdays,
1-9 pm on Saturdays and 1-8 pm on Sundays.
The public is welcome to use the rinks outside of staffed hours; however, attendants will not be on site, warming sheds will not be open, and rink lights will not be on. We ask that people stay off the ice during flood days and during weather related closures in order to help keep the ice in good condition.
Although we are grateful to be open, we do need to let you know about some restrictions we have in place, to keep our staff and visitor’s safe, using the guidelines set by the CDC.
Changes for the warming sheds are as follows:
- Masks are required in order to enter the building.
- There is a limit as to how many people may be in the building at a time. Most rinks can hold up to 6-8 people at a time.
- Benches are marked off every 6-feet to comply with social distancing.
- Families may be inside together and take spaces between the 6-foot markings.
- There is a 10-minute time limit to sit inside the shed.
- No eating inside the building, because this requires removing your mask.
- Please bring your own water bottle.
- Rink attendants will sanitize all touched surfaces, a minimum of twice daily.
- Borrowed gear will be sanitized between each use.
- Changes for the outdoor areas are as follows:
- If you are playing hockey with a group, you are encouraged to wear a mask. If you are wearing a helmet, you may want to use a splashguard to help protect yourself and others.
- Try keeping contact to a minimum.
We hope to help create a positive and memorable experience for you, your family and friends as you visit the skating rinks. As always, if you are under the age of 17 and plan to play hockey, please remember your helmet, as they are required. Each shed does have a couple helmets to borrow. Every rink also has skates available to use. Please call ahead to be sure that the size you need is available.
