    The Mortgage Underwriter IV is responsible for assessing creditworthiness for all mortgage loan applications, including residential purchases, refinances, home equity loans, lines of credit, and consumer loans. This role analyzes financial documentation and collateral using established underwriting guidelines and communicates decisions to the appropriate banking team members. The position ensures all decisions comply with internal policies, investor requirements, and regulatory standards.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Full-time annualized starting salary range for this position is $60,000 to $90,000, contingent on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field; or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of five years of real estate underwriting or related experience
    • Required education/certifications for government-agency mortgage underwriting
    • Strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, including REG B, REG O, ECOA, Patriot Act, Fair Credit Reporting, CRA, HMDA, and RESPA
    • Expert understanding of secondary market guidelines (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac)
    • Ability to identify and apply investor guideline overlays
    • Eligible for National Mortgage Registry registration
    • Advanced analytical and decision-making skills
    • Proficient in mathematics, Word processing, and Excel
    • Broad knowledge of mortgage and consumer lending practices, credit culture, and bank products/services
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Solid understanding of mortgage finance
    • Ability to work accurately under deadlines
    • Effective team collaborator
    • Ability to read and interpret instructions, regulations, policies, and correspondence; able to write clear and effective communications and present information to individuals or groups
