Name: Weed Walk & Invasive Weed Slide ShowDate: August 23, 2014Time: 9:00 AM - 9:00 AM CDTEvent Description:Join one of the short Weed walks on the hour – 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. which start at the Environmental Services booth at the Farmers Market – Superior Public Library, Parking Lot.
At noon an indoor program of a Slide show on Common invasive plants in the Northland will be held in classroom in the Superior Public Library
Learn about weeds on our lawns and in public areas. Pam Roberts, the Northwoods Cooperative Weed Management Area Coordinator will be the guest presenter sharing her expertise and educational materials to identify weeds in your yard and nearby areas.
She will be at the Superior Environmental Services booth at the Barkers Island Farmers Market which due to the Dragon Boat Festival will be held at the Superior Public Library parking lot. Join in any of the walks that begin on the hour. There will be a 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.walk. At noon Pam will be giving a slide show presentation in the small classroom in the Superior Public Library. You will learn more about invasive plants and how to identify and control them through the walks and presentation. At the Environmental Services booth you can pick up complementary native seed balls and native seed paper. Adding native plants to your yard helps clean storm water and reduce runoff and healthy native plant composition can reduce invasive plants from establishing in your yard.
All programs are free. Bring in a weed clipping for identification if you’d like and Pam may be able to i.d. your mystery weed.
