Spahetti Dinner Fundraiser for Sam Dotterwick

On January 30th, Sam woke up incoherent and was running a 104 temperature. He was brought to St. Mary's emergency room by ambulance. Soon his organs started to fail and he was transferred to PICU and put on life support, as his respiratory system was also failing. He was diagnosed at this time with pneumococcal sepsis. Sam was put in a medically induced coma for 14 days as the medical staff worked on his failing organs and then his hands and feet as they were being deprived of oxygen causing frostbit-like symptoms.

Sam was in the hospital for 51 days, between PICU, the pediatrics wing and rehabilitation at Miller Dwan. His rehabilitation has been transferred to St. Mary's - Superior where he continues to gain strength, is walking further every day and hopefully he will be able to run around like an 8-year-old boy again.

All funds raised for this event will go to pay medical expenses that are above and beyond what insurance covers.
