The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Superior is announcing a public information meeting to discuss a proposed design alternative for the reconstruction of WIS 35 from Belknap Street to North 3rd Street (Tower Avenue, City of Superior). WisDOT, in partnership with the City of Superior, is offering two opportunities to attend the meeting. The meetings are scheduled from 12:00-1:30 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 25, 2011 at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Lake Superior Room, 1701 North 4th Street in Superior.
The proposed project would reconstruct Tower Avenue to improve traffic flow and safety for motorists and pedestrians. The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the status of the streetscape design and the proposed construction staging. Final design concepts to be presented include the lane configuration and ''look'' of the finished roadway; including parking, sidewalk, street lighting, side streets and utilities. This is the opportunity to discuss owner access issues, construction access, and drainage needs for parking lots.
WisDOT and City of Superior representatives will provide a formal presentation followed by discussion about the proposed concepts and displays. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide written comments and ask questions concerning this project.
