Name: Great Lakes Pond Hockey Classic
    Date: January 27, 2012
    Time: 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM CST
    Event Description:

Join us as we welcome back ''traditional old time hockey'' to the frozen waters of the Superior Bay near Barker’s Island in Superior, WI with the annual Great Lakes Pond Hockey Classic.

Rekindle some childhood memories and perhaps recapture your youth as either a player or a spectator or and join in the action of this great 4 on 4 adult outdoor hockey event featuring ''open'', ''women’s'' & ''over 40'' divisions.

The Great Lakes Pond Hockey Classic tournament is now an official affiliate of the World Pond Hockey Championships and an official qualifying event.

The games begin on Friday night with two games ''under the lights''. There will be plenty of action to be found while up to thirty teams play on fifteen rinks consecutively. Each team is guaranteed to play five round robin games. Catch any or all of the three games on Saturday. Of course you won’t want to miss big fun and live music at the Party on the Pond; following Saturday’s games. The games will conclude on Sunday afternoon with the Medal round.

Admission to the tournament is FREE for spectators. Pond Hockey memorabilia as well as food and beverage concession stand will be available on site. 100% of all proceeds go to support youth hockey. No outside food or beverage please. There will be live music in the warming tent. And of course no good Pond Hockey tournament would be complete without a good old-fashioned bonfire, so be sure to stop by and toast your toes or melt your mittens by the huge bonfire just like the good ole days.

Plus, don’t miss the "huge" fun of the ''Mini Mite Jamboree''. Stop down and show your support for the five and six year old skaters as they experience playing on the Big Pond.  Mini Mite games are played on Saturday and Sunday. <
