Perimeter Skills: With today's game changing at all levels, every player needs to be able to handle the ball and create offensive opportunities for themselves, as well as his or her team. The focus of this camp is high intensity, offensive individual instruction. Unlike traditional camps, campers will each be working with a ball in their hands almost the entire time they are at camp. Individual instruction workouts are based upon high-major NCAA Division I men's basketball programs such as: Wisconsin, Florida, Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville, Minnesota, as well as NBA workouts, turning them into a camp format. This camp format is designed to get kids better with the basketball while they are at camp. The participants will learn Playmakers' ways to finish at the rim, which have been influenced by the study of NBA stars, Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, John Stockton, Dwyane Wade and Stephon Marbury, as well as game speed ball handling through intense repetition. The goal at Playmakers is for kids to leave camp with an elevated knowledge of the game, and a better ability to handle the ball, change direction in the open court, and finish at the rim.
Happy Hoops: Great basketball at all levels begins with solid fundamentals taught at a young age. In the Happy Hoops program, children are taught how to get better with the basketball through intense repetition. Kids will learn numerous ball handling drills, how to rip the ball through and get to the basket, as well as the correct way to play one on one. At the end of each program, participants will use skills learned at camp to compete against each other in individual and group contests.
