All aboard! The Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad, a nonprofit all-volunteer excursion train, will be celebrating the anniversary of the first train to arrive in Duluth from St. Paul via its very own tracks on Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, August 1. Members of the community as well as visitors are invited to come ''ride the original railroad to Duluth.''
The train will run twice a day both Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Adult fare is $10.50, children ages 4 – 12 are $6.50 and children 3 and under ride free. The train is located at 7100 Grand Ave (across from the zoo).
Passengers on the current LS&M still get to travel along the beautiful St. Louis River out to Fond du Lac having an opportunity to see wildlife in their natural environment on the approximate 90-minute trip aboard vintage passenger cars as well as an open safari car.
