The Big Water Film Festival will be showing films as fresh and deep as the waters of Lake Superior at a three day event taking place on September 19-21, 2008 at STAGENORTH Theater in Washburn Wisconsin. Films of all genres will be seen from filmmakers who are local, national and international. The new STAGENORTH Theater will show movies on state-of-the-art sound and projection equipment, while allowing film-lovers to relax and discuss the films at the lobby bar and outside on the veranda overlooking the shores of beautiful Lake Superior.
Independent submissions will be the backbone of the festival, but two special guests will make presentations too. Bayfield's John Hanson (Wildrose, Northern Lights, Shimmer) will be premiering his new film, Drums of Passion, about the West African drumming legend Olatungi. Hanson will also present a workshop called "Script to Screen" showing how the words on a page get translated into images and sound. The festival will have a special showing the movie "300", featuring an open discussion with "300" scriptwriter, Kurt Johnson.
Film submissions are invited through June 21, 2008. The submission fee is only $10.00 and all information needed to send in a film, or to learn about the Big Water Film Festival is available at http://www.bigwaterfilmfestival.org. There will be prizes awarded to Audience Favorite and Jury Award Winner for 2008.
