Author Tom Ostrom at the Bong Center

On Saturday October 1st at 10 AM the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center will host author Tom Ostrom who will discuss his book The United States Coast Guard in World War II: a History of Domestic and Overseas Actions.

Mr. Ostrom is a UW-Superior alumnus who served in the US Coast Guard Reserve from 1961 to 1965. He has taught at the junior and senior high levels in Wisconsin, at Southwest Missouri College and at Rochester Community College in Minnesota from which he retired. In addition to this book he has also written the United States Coast Guard: 1790 to the Present and The United States Coast Guard on the Great Lakes: a History. In addition, Mr. Ostrom's new book, The United States Coast Guard in National Defense: From World War I to the Present is due out in 2012.

This program is free and open to the public. The Center's exhibition galleries will be open for tours at regular admission prices.
