    Arts
    Superior and the surrounding areas are home to many types of artists — potters, painters, textile artists, and more. Many of our local businesses and venues feature local artists from time to time, and the Superior Business Improvement District’s Phantom Galleries program showcases artwork throughout the year.

    Music
    Whether you’re into classical music or rock and roll, we’re home to many talented musicians. The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department boasts a plethora of talented vocalists and instrumentalists alike. From percussion performances to acappella choir and symphonic band concerts, there’s always something happening on campus. Visit www.uwsuper.edu for updates on concert dates and times.

    If guitar riffs or country music croons are more your style, Douglas County has plenty of music to fit your liking. Venus throughout Douglas County, including many bars and taverns on the newly reconstructed Tower Avenue in Superior, host a wide variety of local and regional bands.     Superior isn’t the only place where you’ll find great music. In Solon Springs you’ll find the beautiful

    Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center. Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center, Inc. is a presenter of a wide variety of quality, professional music. The setting is the beautiful Lucius Woods Park in the heart of the Village of Solon Springs in rural northwest Wisconsin. Bring a chair and enjoy music under the stars.     Theater
    Along with talented musicians and singers, UW-Superior has a very active Theatre Department. Students perform a wide variety of shows — from operas to plays and comedies — throughout the academic year.     Local professional non-profit theatre company, Twin Ports Stage, produces theatre, film, music, and other creative projects. They’re always up to something new, whether it is a live radio show or other fun performances.     Sporting Events
    Hockey, basketball, baseball, football, soccer, softball — should we go on? Douglas County is home to multiple high school and college sports teams. The UW-Superior campus is home to exciting sporting events throughout the year. Take in a hockey game at Wessman Arena, or attend a basketball, volleyball, or track and field event in the beautiful, state-of-the-art Marcovich Wellness Center.     The three public school districts in Douglas County are also home to many teams and sporting events. The Superior Spartans, Northwestern Tigers, and Solon Springs Eagles with each school sporting a group of talented athletes. In addition, the private Maranatha Academy fields a girls volleyball team in the fall, and other teams as interest and enrollment dictates. Throughout the school year sports fans can watch football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and other sports teams.
